Josh Varney is a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Master’s of Arts in Professional Counseling from Liberty University. He has been working with children and families for over 7 years. He began by working in a center for children with Autism. He then worked with children and adolescents with a variety of mental health and behavioral symptoms in both home and school settings. Josh has training and experience working with children and adolescents from age 3 through adult. He has worked with a range of symptoms and diagnoses including ADHD, ODD, OCD, Anxiety, Substance Abuse, Childhood Trauma, Autism and a range of other behavioral and home issues.
Josh believes and has observed that counseling children requires a high level of rapport and trust in order to make progress towards desired goals and uses a variety of counseling approaches including Play Therapy techniques, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Behavioral Therapy. Josh believes that each person in a family has a role, and when a part of a family struggles, it can affect the entire family unit. Therefore, he has a passion for empowering and encouraging parents of his clients by including family counseling and supports in the course of therapy.
Josh is married to his college sweetheart and has two daughters. He enjoys spending time with his family, playing guitar, and getting outdoors.
