Yvonne Wutka

Yvonne Wutka is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. She has been practicing since the year 2000. Yvonne worked at extended day treatment programs until 2005. Then she had her own private practice for 9 years until moving onto the mission field. After returning to the United States, Yvonne has worked at Christian counseling agencies. She recently moved to Virginia from Connecticut to be closer to grandchildren.

It is important to Yvonne that all clients experience unconditional positive regard. Her approach tends to be straightforward and authentic, and she makes it a point to be real with her clients. While she doesn’t sugarcoat things, she is genuinely empathetic and understanding. She uses a solution focused style of therapy helping the client to come up with their own solutions that best work for them in making positive changes for their lives. She also tailors the treatment plan to each situation and adapts her style as needed. She is EMDR trained and helps individuals and family members walk through their healing process by using EMDR (when appropriate) and by integrating their own faith and belief system to help them grow and heal.

Yvonne has been married for over 25 years. They have parented 4 children and have 2 grandchildren. She and her husband have fostered children in Connecticut and have spent time overseas as long term missionaries. She likes to draw from her experiences to help people better understand themselves and others which helps them create more connectedness in their relationships.

In her free time, Yvonne can be found in a hammock with a good book, spending time with family or friends, gardening, hiking, kayaking, and doing home improvements with her husband.
