Ken holds a Master’s Degree in Professional Counseling from Liberty University. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Certified Sex Offender Treatment Provider, and is a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors. He has experience in Community Mental Health working with Children and their families – providing individual, family, and group therapy. He has formal training in Substance Abuse counseling and has worked with individuals and groups in Outpatient and Detention Center settings. Additionally, he is certified as a Sex Offender Treatment Provider, working with Juveniles and Adults. He holds the certification for Juvenile Forensic Evaluator to determine competency to stand trial, and is a certified Prescreener, providing mental health evaluations to determine necessity for psychiatric hospitalization. Additionally, he provides clinical supervision to Residents in Counseling who are working toward Licensure.
Ken enjoys working with adult clients with a wide range of issues, including: Depression, Anxiety, PTSD, Anger, Grief, Substance Abuse, various addictions, sexual trauma and/or addiction, and sexual offending. He primarily works from a Cognitive Behavioral approach from a Christian perspective, and uses various therapeutic approaches as appropriate to meet his clients’ needs. He believes strongly in encouraging clients to use their faith in God and to build upon their strengths in order to experience growth and fulfillment in life.
Ken has been married to his lovely bride, Kathy, for 31 years. They have a grown daughter and son; and recently a new son-in-law (as of last year!). Ken and Kathy enjoy spending time with family and friends, traveling, and exploring Lynchburg. They have enjoyed ministering the Father’s love to children through foster parenting for over 10 years.
