David W. Appleby, Ph.D, Ph.D, CFLE. was an Associate Professor in the Center for Counseling and Family Studies at Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA. for eight years. Prior to coming to Liberty, Dr. Appleby was doing private practice counseling with Pike Creek Psychological Center in Newark, DE. He also spent sixteen years in the pastoral ministry in Wilmington, DE both as an Associate and Senior Pastor; was Director of the Counseling Center at St. Mary’s College of Maryland; and taught psychology and counseling at Greenville College in Greenville, IL.

Dr. Appleby holds a M.Div. from Denver Conservative Baptist Theological Seminary, an M.A. in Psychology, Counseling, and Guidance and PHD in College Student Personnel Administration (College and University Counseling) from the University of Northern Colorado, and a second PHD in Family Studies with a specialization in Fathering from the University of Delaware. In addition, he is a Certified Family Life Educator with the National Council on Family Relations. He has also received advanced training in divorce mediation/counseling. He is a frequent conference speaker and trainer for churches, Christian counseling centers, and seminaries. More importantly,

Dr. Appleby has been married for more than thirty-seven years, is the father of four adult children, and has an increasing number of grandchildren. He also is an avid motorcyclist who, when he is not reading or writing a book, can be found on the Blue Ridge Parkway or heading west on his Honda Gold Wing motorcycle. Dr. Appleby’s breadth of experience includes individual and couple counseling, life coaching, mentoring, and discipleship. David provides a nice touch to Wyndhurst Counseling Center.
